Her size was a big secret—she loved soft things and quiet spots, but when others saw her enormous shadow, they often gasped and zoomed away!

Deep Blue would sigh a bubbly, deep-sea sigh. "I just want a friend to play hide-and-seek with," she thought, her big tail swishing sadly.

One afternoon, while swimming past a patch of swaying sea grass, she saw a blur of silver and orange: Shimmer, the fastest little fish in the kelp forest.

Shimmer was too fast to be scared. She didn't even stop swimming when she noticed the enormous visitor. She was too busy hunting for the perfect, roundest little piece of algae.

Deep Blue watched Shimmer zoom left, then right, then spin in a tiny circle. Deep Blue giggled, a rumble like far-off thunder.

Suddenly, a strong current pulled through the sea grass, much stronger than usual. Shimmer tried to hold tight to a bit of coral, but the current was too rough!

Deep Blue saw her little friend spinning away toward the dark, rocky crevices where the water tumbled and crashed. Oh no!

Quickly, but carefully, Deep Blue positioned her massive body right in the path of the current. Her size, which usually pushed creatures away, now became a safe, solid wall.

Shimmer was safe! She looked up at the enormous, gentle wall that had saved her. "Thank you, Deep Blue," she whispered. Deep Blue smiled, knowing that even the biggest creatures can have the biggest hearts.
